Keeping appliances and electronics at 92.5
Ship in the factory carton whenever its condition allows — it's almost always the densest safe configuration. When units move on pallets, match the pallet to the carton footprint: a 36-inch-deep refrigerator on a 48 × 40 pallet bills for the pallet's full footprint, including the foot of air beside the box. Skids cut to the carton, or two units side-by-side filling the deck, keep the measured cube honest.
Be deliberate about extra protection. Adding a second box, a wooden frame, or generous void fill for a rough lane is sometimes the right call — but recognize it as a rate decision, not just a packaging one. If the added inches drop the unit below 10.5 lb/ft³, you've bought class 100 for the whole shipment.
