Deflate, nest, knock down — and measure everything

Because the category is so varied, the levers are a toolkit rather than a rule. Deflate inflatables and balls where possible — an inflated exercise ball or SUP is nearly pure air, and deflated it ships in a fraction of the space. Nest shells and hollow gear (kayaks pair hull-to-deck; helmets and pads stack inside each other). Knock down goals, nets and racks. Each removes the enclosed space that otherwise ships as billed air.
